PM Modi condoles demise of former West Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee

New Delhi, Aug 8 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of former West Bengal Chief Minister and senior CPI (M) leader Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee in Kolkata on Thursday.
In a post on X, he said "Saddened by the passing of Shri Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, former CM of West Bengal. He was a political stalwart who served the state with commitment. My heartfelt condolences to his family and supporters'. Om Shanti.
Bhattacharjee passed away this morning at the age of 80.
The former CM had been suffering from age-related illnesses and breathing problems for a long time.
He was the second and last Chief Minister during the Left Front's 34-year rule in Bengal.
Bhattacharjee was the Chief Minister of West Bengal from 2000 to 2011.
