AAP accuses PM Modi of favouring industrialists over public in Russian oil deal

New Delhi, Aug 12 (UNI) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of prioritising corporate interests over public welfare, alleging that benefits from discounted Russian crude oil imports have not reached ordinary Indians.
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh claimed that while India purchased oil at lower rates, fuel prices domestically remain high, and private players like Reliance Industries profited by reselling processed fuel abroad.
Speaking at a press conference, Singh stated that India imported 231 million barrels of Russian crude in the last six months, of which Reliance alone bought 77 million barrels. He alleged that instead of passing on the cost benefits to consumers, Reliance exported refined fuel, earning an estimated Rs 50,000 crore. "If India is buying cheaper oil, why are petrol and diesel still priced between ₹95 and Rs 104 per litre?" Singh questioned.
