New Delhi, Feb 4 (UNI) Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the Russian State Duma, called on the Vice-President and Chairman, Rajya Sabha, Jagdeep Dhankhar, at Parliament House.
The Vice President’s Office in a post on X said that the discussions between the two sides on Monday touched on different aspects of the bilateral relationship.
“Discussions touched upon diverse facets of the multi-dimensional bilateral relationship between India and Russia. Both leaders underlined the significance of enhancing parliamentary ties which provide a solid foundation for the overall Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between the two nations.”
On Monday, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said in a post on X:
“Welcomed Russian Parliamentarian Delegation led by Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, H.E., Mr. Vyacheslav Volodin, in the Lok Sabha, today.
“Glad to see the Parliamentary Delegation keenly witnessing the House proceedings from the special box.”
Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin also had a meeting with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
“They discussed issues of increasing the effectiveness of Russia-India inter-parliamentary cooperation.”
The top Russian official also called on President Droupadi Murmu.
The Russian Embassy in a post said: “During his visit, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin had a meeting with President of #India Droupadi Murmu @rashtrapatibhvn
“He thanked the President of India for the opportunity to meet with the #Russia’n delegation.”
A post by President Murmu’s office said: “President said that exchanges of this nature among public representatives not only foster stronger cooperation but also allow the partnership to remain contemporary and updated.”
The Russian Embassy said the delegation of the State Duma headed by Vyacheslav Volodin attended the plenary sessions of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
“The State Duma Chairman also visited the Parliament Museum and the Constitution Hall.”
