We are one in fight against terrorism: Message from all-party meet

New Delhi, May 8 (UNI) Complete unity was at display at the all-party meeting, where leaders belonging to ruling as well as Opposition endorsed the military operation against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and extended support to Operation Sindoor.

The all-party meeting was chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and leaders including leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Rajya Sabha leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and BJD's Sasmit Patra participated in the meeting.

Rajnath Singh briefed the Opposition about military operation in which terrorist infrastructure was targeted that resulted in killing of scores of LeT, JeM and high-ranking terrorists of other terror outfits.

It was a show of unity as leaders showed maturity as Opposition lent its full support to the government in its efforts to combat cross-border terrorism originating from Pakistan.

Briefing the media, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said, “At a time when the country is facing a crisis, there is no place for politics. All leaders in one voice have lauded our armed forces for Operation Sindoor and have praised them for their courage and valour”.

He said, “They have all said that they will support every decision of the government and also support the armed forces in their action. Some MPs have also given suggestions”.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi said that all political parties have extended full supported to the government.

Kharge said, “Whatever they said we listened. They said that anything confidential related to defence cannot be disclosed due to national security. We all said that in this hour of crisis we are with you”.

On Prime Minister Narendra Modi not being present in the meeting, Kharge said that it is his decision. Last time also he was not present. But during this hour of crisis, “we will not criticise anybody".

Meanwhile, Asaduddin Owaisi after the meeting said, “I complimented our armed forces and the government for Operation Sindoor. I also suggested that we should start an international campaign against TRF and urge the United States of America to designate TRF as a foreign terrorist organisation in its own country. I also urged US to put Pakistan in FATF grey list”.

India on the night of May 6 and 7 launched Operation Sindoor targeting nine terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
