India will continue its firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism: EAM after ceasefire announcement

New Delhi, May 10 (UNI) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar today said that India and Pakistan have worked out an understanding on stoppage of firing and military action, and added that India will continue its “firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations”.
In a post on X, he said:
“India and Pakistan have today worked out an understanding on stoppage of firing and military action.
“India has consistently maintained a firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
“It will continue to do so.”
This comes as both countries agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire following talks between their Directors General of Military Operations.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced that both sides will stop firing in land, air and sea from 17.00 hours IST today.
This followed active intervention by the US with Vice President JD Vance and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio speaking with the Indian and Pakistani leadership.
The ceasefire was announced by US President Donald Trump on his Truth Social handle.
"After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE.
"Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence.
"Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
