Traffic restrictions in central Delhi for Republic Day rehearsal

New Delhi, Jan 24(UNI) Delhi Traffic Police issued a traffic advisory on Tuesday ahead of the Republic Day parade rehearsal scheduled for Saturday, outlining traffic restrictions in parts of central Delhi.
According to the advisory, the rehearsal will begin at 10:15 a.m. from Vijay Chowk and proceed along Kartavya Path towards India Gate.
To facilitate the smooth movement of the ceremonial movement, Kartavya Path will remain closed to all traffic between Vijay Chowk and India Gate from 10:15 am to 12:30 pm, police said.
Cross traffic will also not be permitted on Kartavya Path at key intersections, including Rafi Marg, Janpath and Man Singh Road, during the restricted hours.
Vehicular movement around India Gate will remain prohibited from 10:15 am to 12:30 pm, the advisory added.
Commuters have been advised to avoid the parade route during the rehearsal and plan their journeys accordingly. Motorists have been asked to use alternative routes such as Mother Teresa Crescent Road, Sikandra Road, Firoz Shah Road, Mathura Road, Subramaniam Bharti Marg and Motilal Nehru Marg.
Delhi Traffic Police also urged the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any unidentified objects or suspicious persons to the nearest police personnel.
As part of enhanced security measures, the advisory said the flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms, including drones, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), paragliders, microlights and hot air balloons, has been prohibited over Delhi until February 1, 2026.
"Motorists have been requested to remain patient, follow traffic rules and cooperate with traffic personnel deployed at key intersections". It added.
