Multiple road accidents in UP leave five dead, many injured

Lucknow, Jan 19 (UNI) In separate road accidents across Uttar Pradesh, at least five people were killed and several others injured in Gonda, Unnao, Barabanki, and other districts.
On the Lucknow–Ayodhya service lane near Palhari under Kotwali Nagar area, an auto-rickshaw carrying passengers met with a fatal accident in the wee hours of Monday. Seeing a gravel-laden trailer approaching from the opposite direction, the auto driver swerved left. As a result, Ashish Yadav (resident of Pandeypur, Maurawan, Unnao), who was sitting on the right side of the auto, fell onto the road. The rear wheel of the trailer ran over his head, killing him on the spot.
Police seized both vehicles, but the drivers fled. According to Kotwali Nagar SHO Sudhir Kumar Singh, Ashish worked with an NGO and taught young children at anganwadi centers. He was living on rent near the police station in Zaidpur.
