Punjab: 95 kg heroin, 52 kg opium recovered

Ludhiana, Mar 18 (UNI) Punjab police have seized 95 kg of heroin, over 52 kg of Opium, and more than Rs 64 lakh cash as part of the state government's anti-drug campaign 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' till March 16, a senior minister said on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference here, Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sondh highlighted the success of the campaign in Moga, describing the 'War Against Drugs' campaign as extremely encouraging with positive outcomes being seen everywhere.
He said across Punjab so far 95 kg of Heroin, more than 52 kg of Opium, and over Rs 64 lakh in cash have been seized.

SGPC tightens visa rules after Punjab woman fails to return from Pakistan

Chandigarh, Nov 15 (UNI) The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has introduced stricter conditions for visa applications of solo women pilgrims travelling to Pakistan, following a case in which a Punjab woman, Sarabjit Kaur, did not return with the official jatha and reportedly married in Pakistan after changing her identity.

Navjot Kaur, popularly known as "Lady Milkha" in local sports circles, has been consistently winning rural 100-metre races, earning enough prize money to buy eight marlas of land for her father. Her next goal is to build a new home for her family.
