Mohali Police issued over 4.36 lakh e-challans using CCTV surveillance between March and November, 2025

Chandigarh, Dec 5 (UNI) In a significant push towards stricter traffic enforcement, Mohali Police issued 436,395 e-challans between March and November 2025, leveraging an advanced online monitoring system supported by a network of CCTV cameras across the district.
According to DSP Karnail Singh, the extensive challan drive generated Rs 6.23 crore in revenue, which he described as an important step towards improving road safety and strengthening traffic management. Singh emphasised that adherence to traffic rules should stem not only from fear of penalties but also from a sense of responsibility towards one’s own safety and that of others.
He noted that red-light violations, once a frequent cause of major accidents, have seen a noticeable decline due to real-time surveillance and automated challan processing. This shift, he said, reflects improved public awareness and the effectiveness of the police department’s technology-driven approach.
