ECI starts issuing notices to voters who couldn't be mapped in SIR of 2003 in UP

Lucknow, Jan 23 ( UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Navdeep Rinwa on Friday said that under the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SIR)-2026 in the state, after the publication of the draft electoral roll, the process of issuing notices has begun for those voters whose details, as per the enumeration forms, could not be mapped with the voter list of the previous SIR-2003.
Hearings on these notices are being conducted by all Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers across the state, as per the prescribed procedure.
The Chief Electoral Officer, in a statement here stated that in line with the Election Commission of India's objective of "No voter left behind," and under Rule 18 of the Electoral Registration Rules, 1960, to make the revision process simple, accessible, and inclusive, and to minimize inconvenience to voters, those who are unable to appear in person for the hearing are being exempted from personal appearance before the Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers. Such voters must authorize a person in writing, by signing or affixing their thumb impression, to represent them at the hearing.
