JK Cabinet Sub-Committee on reservation drafts its report

Srinagar, June 10 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet Sub-Committee formed last year to look into grievances against the current reservation policy in the Union Territory has drafted its report, which will be placed before the Cabinet when it meets.
The announcement was made by J&K Minister Sakina Itoo, who headed the Cabinet Sub-committee.
She said the report has been drafted within the stipulated timeframe of 6 months.
"The Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted to examine the issue of reservations has drafted its report within the stipulated timeframe of 6 months. The report will be placed before the Cabinet when it meets, " Itoo said in a post on X.
Last year in March, the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha amended the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act, 2004, which enhanced the reservation from 43 percent to 70 percent in government jobs. The jump was because the Special Tribe (ST) status was given to the Pahari community. The policy met with protests. Later, J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah formed the Sub-Committee to examine the contentious policy. The committee was given six months.
