Karnataka to register FIR against Vijay Shah

Belagavi, May 15 (UNI) Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara on Thursday said an FIR would be registered against Madhya Pradesh BJP Minister Vijay Shah for his alleged derogatory remarks against Colonel Sophia Qureshi, and that legal proceedings in the matter would be reviewed.
Speaking to reporters here, Dr Parameshwara said, "Colonel Sophia Qureshi is the daughter-in-law of Belagavi. I have directed the Belagavi SP to lodge an FIR against the minister who made controversial statements about Colonel Sophia Qureshi and to apprise the central government of the action being initiated."
Expressing strong displeasure over the BJP leader's comments, the Home Minister said the statement was not only an affront to Colonel Qureshi, but amounted to an insult to the entire country. "No one should harbour such a narrow-minded outlook," he remarked.
