PM Modi to visit landslide-hit Wayanad tomorrow, to review ongoing relief works

Wayanad, Aug 9 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the land-slide hit Wayanad in Kerala on Saturday and assess the ongoing relief works and rehabilitation process.
Modi will conduct an aerial survey to evaluate the impact of the massive landslide hit areas at Chooralmala and Mundakkai.
Governor Arif Mohammed Khan and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will receive the Prime Minister at Kannur Airport along with top officials of the State.
Union Minister for State Suresh Gopi will accompany the Prime minister to Wayanad.
The Prime Minister will arrive at Kannur International Airport at Mattanur around 1120 hours and leave for Wayanad in an Air Force helicopter and conduct an aerial survey.
He would thereafter land at SKMJ ground at Kalpetta and then see the Chooralmala, Mundakkai landslide areas around 1220 hours and spend around three hours in Wayanad.
Modi will visit the relief camps and hospitals to interact with the victims and survivors at Meppadi and later Chair a review meeting.
Three helicopters of the Air Force and a Bullet proof car already reached Kannur to transport the Prime Minister to Wayanad by Airways or road.
Wayanad District Collector Meghashree D.R has informed that all the rescue operations at disaster areas was cancelled tomorrow, in the wake of the direction from the Special Protection Group (SPG),
As many as 226 deaths were officially confirmed and 133 people were missing in the landslide that hit at Mundakkai on July 30 in Meppadi Panchayat. Unconfirmed reports said the death toll was more than 400.
