PM Modi virtually inaugurates Cherlapally Railway Terminal in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Jan 6 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the state-of-the-art Cherlapally Railway Terminal in Hyderabad on Monday, highlighting it as a milestone in India's journey toward modernised infrastructure and connectivity.
Built at a cost of Rs 413 crore, the terminal is designed to rival airports with its advanced amenities. It features six escalators, seven lifts, separate waiting halls for men and women, a high-class waiting area, an executive lounge, and first-floor facilities such as a cafeteria, restaurant, and restrooms. Currently, 13 pairs of trains operate from the terminal, with an additional 12 trains planned.
In his address, PM Modi underscored the government’s commitment to transforming Indian Railways, emphasising initiatives such as Vande Bharat trains, Amrit Bharat Stations, and nearly 100 per cent railway electrification since 2014.
He highlighted the expansion of railway infrastructure, with over 30,000 km of new tracks and numerous rail overbridges and underbridges constructed over the past decade.
Speaking about the terminal’s connectivity with the Outer Ring Road, PM Modi noted its potential to boost industrial development and enhance passenger convenience. He also emphasised the terminal's eco-friendly features, including solar power generation.
Reflecting on the broader development of transportation networks, the Prime Minister noted the significant growth in airports, metro rail services, and the road network since 2014, reiterating the government’s focus on improving connectivity nationwide.
Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy, Somanna, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Telangana Minister D Sridhar Babu, Etala Rajender, MP, SCR officials participated in the programme, while Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy participated virtually in the programme.
