Bengaluru, June 24 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday directed the state's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to assume control of the investigation into the untimely demise of R Prabuddha, a second-year BBA student whose tragic death has sent shockwaves through Bengaluru's Brindavan Layout community.
The quiet neighborhood was shattered when Prabuddha, known for her diligence and academic prowess, was found lifeless on May 15, her throat and wrist grievously injured.

Initially considered a case of possible suicide, the circumstances surrounding her death took a chilling turn, prompting her family and concerned citizens to demand a deeper probe into the incident.
KR Sowmya, Prabuddha's grieving mother, alongside local activists, petitioned CM Siddaramaiah for justice, urging a thorough investigation into what they suspect was a crime concealed as suicide. Moved by their plea, the Chief Minister swiftly acted, entrusting the CID with uncovering the truth behind Prabuddha's demise.
Sources close to the investigation revealed a distressing sequence of events leading up to the tragic incident. It is alleged that a 14-year-old acquaintance of Prabuddha's younger brother, facing the consequences of an ill-judged decision, resorted to drastic measures to evade accountability.

In a bid to replace a pair of spectacles he had broken, the young boy purportedly stole Rs 2,000 from Prabuddha's purse on May 13. The theft, however, did not go unnoticed. Two days later, Prabuddha confronted the boy about the missing money, triggering a confrontation that culminated in a fatal altercation.

Under pressure and fearing exposure, the boy allegedly wielded a kitchen knife, inflicting mortal wounds on Prabuddha before fleeing the scene.
While initial investigations pointed to a singular perpetrator, suspicions linger among Prabuddha's family and the community about the involvement of others in the tragic incident.
