Anantapur, May 13 (UNI) Former Chief Minister and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy consoled the family members of martyred Murali Naik at their residence in a highly emotive atmosphere where the parents broke down on several occasions and a pall of gloom descended over the small living room of the braveheart. Murali Naik was killed in an encounter with infiltrators in J&K a few days ago.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy went to Kalli Thanda of Goruntla Mandal and paid tributes to the martyred soldier on Tuesday. He announced an ex gratia of Rs 25 lakh on behalf of the Party. He said the tradition of honouring soldiers who lay their lives in the line of duty by giving an ex gratia of Rs 50 lakh was started by the YSRCP government, which has been followed since then.
The parents of Murali Naik on several occasions broke down while narrating the memories of their child, and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy gave a patient hearing and said soothing words to the bereaved couple that was in deep sorrow.
Later, in his brief address, the former Chief Minister said that the spirit of Murali Naik lives on as the supreme sacrifice stands as a testimony to the call of duty.
“Though young in age, the Martyr will be a source of inspiration to many and laying down life for the safekeeping of the country is an act of valour and honour. People will be indebted to the sacrifice of Murali Naik,” he said.
