BCCI Ombudsman issues show cause notice to RCB, KSCA over stampede

Mumbai, July 2 (UNI) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Ombudsman and former Supreme Court judge Justice Arun Mishra today issued a show cause notice to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) in connection with the June 4 stampede at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium, which left several injured and sparked widespread public outrage.
The move comes in response to a formal complaint filed by Vikash Kumar Vikas on June 12, alleging gross negligence and violation of safety protocols by the RCB franchise during a ticket sale event at the stadium. The complaint claims that inadequate crowd management, lack of coordination with local authorities, and poor safety arrangements led to stampede, resulting in injuries to fans who had queued up in large numbers.
Vikas, in his complaint, has demanded the immediate suspension of the RCB franchise, citing accountability failures. He has also urged the BCCI to put a hold on any ongoing sale negotiations involving the franchise, arguing that the owners may be attempting to offload the team to avoid liability.
