Maharashtra records over 1,000 newborn deaths every month despite major health Spending: reveals RTI

Nagpur, Dec 2 (UNI) Maharashtra continues to report alarming levels of child mortality despite extensive government expenditure on health schemes, according to data obtained through the Right to Information (RTI) Act today.
Official records show that 43,662 newborns died across the state in the last 43 months, averaging more than 1,000 deaths per month.
The mortality rate among children aged 1 to 5 years has risen by 9.54 percent, prompting concerns over the effectiveness of state-run health programmes.
