State Cabinet approves financial contribution for Pune-Lonavala third and fourth Railway Line Project

Mumbai, Sep 3 (UNI) The State Cabinet has approved the Government of Maharashtra’s financial contribution for the important project of constructing the third and fourth suburban railway lines between Pune and Lonavala. This long-pending issue has been resolved after consistent efforts of Deputy Chief Minister and Pune District Guardian Minister, Ajit Pawar.
The project, presented by the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation, has an estimated cost of around 5,100 crore, which also includes land acquisition expenses. The cost will be shared equally between the Central Government and the State Government on a 50:50 basis. The State Government’s share has been fixed at 2,550 crore.
Out of this 2,550 crore share of the State Government, the contributions will be as follows: Pune Municipal Corporation (20%), 510 crore, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation 510 crore, and PMRDA 765 crore, while the remaining amount will be borne by the State Government, said Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
