Uddhav Thackeray should support the BJP – IAC president

Mumbai, Jan 20 ( UNI) Hemant Patil, National President of India Against Corruption and an OBC leader on Tuesday appealed that Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray – whose party emerged as the second-largest after aggressively contesting the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections for the cause of Marathi identity and Mumbai’s supremacy – should extend outside support to the BJP for the election of the Mayor.
Uddhav Thackeray has expressed his desire that the Shiv Sena should get the post of Mayor. Although it may be difficult for him to become Mayor due to lack of numbers, it is not impossible. Patil opined that if Thackeray reconciles with the BJP and sets aside differences, the possibility of the BJP taking a step forward cannot be ruled out. Perhaps, if it is in God’s will, he will certainly become the Mayor, he said.
It has come to light that Eknath Shinde, who broke away from the Shiv Sena, has insisted on getting the post of Mumbai Mayor for two and a half years on the strength of 29 corporators. In such a situation, it is difficult to say how agreeable the BJP, the “elder brother,” would be to this demand. However, considering the recent distancing by BJP leaders from Shinde, and the campaigning done by BJP office-bearers against the Shinde faction during the elections, the possibility of Shinde being sidelined cannot be ruled out, he said.
