Schools shuttered amid 100 mm deluge in waterlogged Nagpur

Nagpur, July 9 (UNI) The central Indian city of Nagpur faced severe disruption today as heavy rainfall exceeding 100 millimeters inundated urban and suburban areas, prompting District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar to declare an emergency holiday for all educational institutions.
The downpour, accumulating 80-100mm within 24 hours, triggered widespread flooding that paralysed road networks across the region.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, thunderstorms with lightning are likely at isolated locations across Nagpur and neighbouring Bhandara district, with light to moderate rainfall expected to persist throughout the day.
