UK PM trusts Royal Navy chief despite Afghan data leak scandal

Moscow, July 16 (UNI) UK Chief of Naval Staff General Gwyn Jenkins has the full confidence of Prime Minister Keir Starmer despite the 2021 leak of personal data of Afghans who worked with the British military, The Telegraph newspaper reported, citing a Downing Street spokesperson.
The leak occurred in September 2021 during the emergency and chaotic evacuation of Western coalition forces from Afghanistan. The personal information of almost 300 people who worked with the UK government were mistakenly disclosed, putting them at serious risk.
Jenkins does not bear responsibility for the leak of personal data of Afghans, the report said on Tuesday, citing the spokesperson.
