Japan: Core machinery orders fall 9.1 pct in April

Tokyo, June 18 (UNI) Japan's core machinery orders, a leading indicator of capital expenditure, fell 9.1 percent in April from the previous month to 919 billion yen (about 6.33 billion U.S. dollars), official data showed Wednesday.
The data marked the first decline in three months as orders from both the manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors declined, according to the Cabinet Office.
Manufacturing orders dipped 0.6 percent to 456.6 billion yen, with 7 of 17 industries reporting month-over-month declines, particularly in electrical machinery and general-purpose production equipment.

US presidential aide details vision for Gaza at Board of Peace signing ceremony

Davos, Jan 22 (UNI) Senior White House advisor and top presidential aide Jared Kushner presented his vision for Gaza at the Board of Peace signing ceremony in Davos on Thursday, saying that the next phase is to "work with Hamas on demilitarisation."
As per Kushner, Washington plans to bring "free market economy principles to Gaza," in a manner similar to the way his father-in-law, President Donald Trump is doing back in the US, reflecting a near-same exact mindset for the enclave as Trump.

Trump claims Russia – Ukraine war will be over 'pretty soon' on sidelines of Davos summit

Davos, Jan 22 (UNI) US President Donald Trump, speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Board of Peace in Davos on Thursday, referred to the Russia – Ukraine war and said, that though it has been contrary to his expectations the most difficult conflict to solve, he expects a settlement between Moscow and Kyiv to be imminent, claiming that the war will be over "pretty soon."
Reiterating his misplaced claims of ending eight wars, he remarked that this will soon be the ninth entry on his roster of the conflicts he believes to have put to bed.
