NGT orders inclusion of Ravi Infrabuild Projects Ltd. as party in Bijli Mahadev Ropeway environmental case

New Delhi/Shimla, Nov 17 (UNI) The National Green Tribunal has directed petitioners to implead Ravi Infrabuild Projects Limited, the executing agency of the Bijli Mahadev ropeway, as a respondent in the environmental violation case concerning the 2.4-km project in Kharal Valley, Himachal Pradesh.
The directive came from the NGT Principal Bench comprising Justice Prakash Shrivastava and Dr. A. Senthil Vel, recently while hearing two connected applications filed by Nachiketa Sharma and the Bijli Mahadev Mandir Committee alleging that the ropeway construction has resulted in large-scale damage to the local ecology.
Petitioners argued that the project proponent must be made accountable for alleged violations, including the felling of green trees and degradation of forest cover.
