Nihang man's death after police raid sparks protest in Majitha village, family demands FIR against cops

Chandigarh, June 9 (UNI) Tension gripped a village in Punjab's Majitha area after the death of a Nihang Sikh man whose family alleged that he succumbed to injuries sustained during a police operation at his residence, while police rejected the accusations and said the exact cause of death would be established only after the post-mortem examination.
The incident occurred in Babuwal village of Amritsar district, where family members of the deceased staged a protest by placing the body on a road and demanding legal action against the police personnel involved in the raid. The family also announced that the last rites would not be performed until an FIR is registered against the officers concerned.
According to relatives, a police team arrived at the house in the early hours as part of an investigation and conducted a search operation. The family alleged that an altercation took place during the raid and claimed that the deceased, identified as Daler Singh, and his son were physically assaulted by police personnel. They alleged that the injuries suffered during the incident led to a deterioration in the elderly man's health and ultimately resulted in his death.
