NITI Aayog hosted ‘Mega Tinkering Day’ to foster innovation among students

New Delhi, Aug 12 (UNI) NITI Aayog hosted a ‘Mega Tinkering Day’ under its Atal Innovation Mission (AIM). It was India’s largest school-based tinkering event. This event brings together students from over 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) across India.
The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) is a forerunner initiative of the government, under NITI Aayog, promoting a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship across India.
The event was held virtually and saw participation of about 4,73,350 students from about 9467 ATL-equipped schools.
Deepak Bagla, Mission Director Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, said, “In line with the Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat, where innovation and youth are one of the driving forces of national transformation, Mega Tinkering Day 2025 is a milestone demonstration of the power of grassroots innovation.”
In this event, over 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs came together in one synchronized hour of creativity, with thousands of students across India building, learning, and innovating as one, he said. "No country in the world has mobilized innovation at this scale inside its school ecosystem.” Bagla added.
Students in schools from remotest areas of Northernmost regions, North East regions, and westernmost regions are also present at this event.
The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) has established over 10,000 ATLs in schools offering access to different technologies, including 3D printers, robotics kits, IoT devices, and more.
