NSUI activists clash with police outside Election Commission office

Lucknow, Aug 13 (UNI) The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) staged a massive protest in Lucknow today, targeting the Election Commission Office over alleged voter fraud and suppression of opposition voices. The protest quickly escalated as demonstrators broke through police barricades and attempted to lay siege to the commission’s office.
The protest led to intense scuffles between NSUI members and the police, lasting for nearly half an hour. Authorities eventually detained several protestors, dragging them into police vehicles. They were later released at Eco Garden Park.
NSUI leaders accused the Election Commission of acting as a puppet of the central government, claiming that democracy in the country is under severe threat. “The central government has come to power through stolen votes,” said NSUI Uttar Pradesh President Anas Rahman. “This is a betrayal of the Constitution. The people’s mandate has been manipulated” he charged.
