Odisha CM urges farmers to embrace fish farming and animal husbandry for self-reliance

Bhubaneswar, Jan 21 (UNI) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday urged farmers to diversify their income by engaging in fish farming, cattle rearing, and animal husbandry alongside traditional agriculture.
Speaking at the inauguration of the three-day Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Conclave, Odisha-2026, Majhi emphasized the state government’s determination to make Odisha self-reliant in fish, meat, chicken, and eggs.
Highlighting the state’s efforts to boost milk production, the Chief Minister recalled the launch of the Chief Minister Kamdhenu Scheme in the first budget of his tenure.

Two more owners of the illegal rat-hole coal mine arrested in Meghalaya

Shillong, Feb 15 (UNI) Meghalaya police arrested two more owners of the illegal rat-hole coal mine where a dynamite blast killed 31 mine workers in Mynsngat-Thangsko area of East Jaintia Hills district, police said on Sunday.
Earnest Swer and Rangsing Syiemlieh alias Mithun were arrested on Saturday after evading police arrest in connection with the deadly coal mine blast on February 5, police said.
