Odisha DGP’s district monitoring move reflects concerns over state’s law & order situation: BJD

Bhubaneswar, June 10 (UNI) The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday alleged that the decision of Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Y.B. Khurania to deploy senior police officers to supervise several districts is an indication that the state's law and order machinery is not functioning satisfactorily.
The DGP has directed 15 senior police officers to conduct independent inspections and review the law and order situation in 17 districts before submitting detailed reports.
In a statement issued here, BJD spokesperson and Media Coordinator Lenin Mohanty claimed that rampant illegal extraction of minor minerals such as sand, stone chips and morrum, allegedly carried out under the patronage of leaders of the ruling party, has severely undermined the morale of honest police officers across the state.
