Odisha: Police officer suspended for detaining youth in inhumane conditions

Balasore, June 21 (UNI) The Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Bhograi Police Station has been suspended for allegedly detaining a youth in inhumane conditions, with his hands and legs chained.
Balasore Superintendent of Police Raj Prasad placed IIC Sriballav Sahu under suspension on Friday, pending a departmental inquiry.
The action followed the intervention of BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi, who visited the police station and discovered the youth being held in chains under deplorable conditions. Sarangi immediately contacted the Balasore SP and reported the incident, terming it a blatant case of human rights violation.
