Oikko Moncho: Kolkata Pride Walk 2025

Kolkata, June 22 (UNI) On Sunday, the city once again became the site of one of the subcontinent's most enduring declarations of queer visibility, the 26th Kolkata Rainbow Pride Walk, the oldest Pride march in Asia and India's pioneering public demonstration of LGBTQ+ visibility, first held in 1999 as the Friendship Walk.
This year's walk, held under the banner of 'Oikko Moncho" (United Platform), the walk brought together individuals across the spectrum of gender and sexuality - trans, queer, non-binary and cis allies, in a resounding declared of existence and resistance.
The procession commenced at 4:30 pm, journeying from Esplanade Metro Cinema to the Academy of Fine Arts, weaving a vibrant procession of voices, banners and unfurled rainbow flags.
