Over 1200 tourists stranded at Lachung in North Sikkim following landslides

Gangtok, June 14 (UNI) The Sikkim government on Friday said that all stranded tourists at Lachung in the farthest northern district--1200 domestic and 15 foreign nationals, are safe and efforts are on to evacuate them by choppers or by road, official sources said.
Among 15 foreign nationals 10 were Bangladeshi, two were from Nepal and as many numbers from Thailand have been stranded at 2900 mts high in Lachung, about 125 kms from Gangtok.
" Around 1200 domestic and 15 foreigners are stranded in Lachung, Mangan district due to road blockage caused by heavy rainfall and andslides," a government communique said.

Imphal, Jan 25 (UNI) Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh distributed advanced prosthetic devices including State-of-the-Art Myoelectric Hands and Motorized Wheelchairs, to persons with Disabilities (PwDs) at the Secretariat on Saturday.
The Chief Minister stated that after the formation of the BJP-led government in 2017, the government has been launching various schemes to aid the marginal section of society and to assist persons with disability. He spoke on schemes including Chief Minister-gi Hakselgi Tengbang (CMHT), Chief Minister-gi Sotharabasingi Tengbang and School Fagathansi Mission among others.
