Pakistan min accuses PTI of malicious social media campaign

Islamabad, Dec 16 (UNI) Accusing the Pakistan-Tehreek-e-Insaf of carrying out social media campaigns for influencing public opinion, Pakistan State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhary, claimed on Tuesday that authorities in Islamabad had uncovered extensive evidence of a large-scale paid online campaign by the opposition party, which was being coordinated via a whole network of fake accounts, largely being operated from abroad.
He added, that the government had recently briefed foreign media outlets on the methods employed by terrorist and other organised networks for exploiting social platforms in Pakistan.
Investigators, he claimed, had found that substantial evidence over the generation of "artificial trends" which were then being sent across multiple platforms.
