Parameshwara rejects free IPL ticket charge

Bengaluru, May 8 (UNI) Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Friday dismissed allegations that demands for free tickets by the state government led to the shifting of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 final from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad, even as Devajit Saikia claimed the move followed excessive complimentary ticket demands by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).
“Would a match be shifted just to provide 600 seats to legislators? If that is the case, let them disclose who received how many tickets,” Parameshwara said while responding to the controversy over the venue change.
The minister maintained that the Karnataka government had no role in the decision and described it as a purely commercial and administrative matter involving the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the franchise.
