Peru calls up Germany-born defender Gruber for friendlies

Lima, Nov 7 (UNI) Peru manager Manuel Barreto has named uncapped center-back Fabio Gruber in his squad for friendlies against Russia and Chile, the Peruvian football federation said.
Gruber, who was born in Germany to a Peruvian mother, has made a positive impression this season for FC Nurnberg, which plays in Germany's second tier.
As expected, Barreto included veteran goalkeeper Pedro Gallese, Copenhagen defender Marcos Lopez, Gremio midfielder Erick Noriega and Vancouver Whitecaps forward Kenji Cabrera.
