Physically challenged, cheyutha pensioners stage ‘Challo Kollur – Maha Garjana’, demand pension hike

Hyderabad, Sep 7 (UNI) Physically challenged citizens, Cheyutha pensioners, senior citizens, widows, and destitute communities came together in large numbers on Sunday for “Challo Kollur – Maha Garjana”**a massive public meeting held at BRG Function Hall in Kollur village, RC Puram mandal of Patancheruvu Assembly constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Padma Shri awardee and Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) founder Manda Krishna Madiga accused the government of betraying the poor by failing to deliver on pension promises made in the Congress manifesto.
He recalled that Congress had assured Rs 6,000 pensions for the physically challenged and Rs 4,000 for elderly, widows, single women, and other dependent groups, with payments to begin from December 9, 2023. “It has been 21 months since Revanth Reddy came to power, yet not a single promise has been fulfilled. This is nothing but betrayal of the 55 lakh poor who trusted him,” he said.
