New Delhi, Apr 8 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday marked 11 years of the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, stating that the initiative has played a significant role in boosting self-employment among the country’s youth.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “Exactly 11 years ago today, the Prime Minister’s Mudra Yojana was launched, and it has proven to be highly beneficial in promoting self-employment among the youth.”
He added that the scheme’s success demonstrates how access to the right opportunities can empower individuals to become self-reliant while contributing to national development.
Launched in 2015, the Mudra Yojana aims to provide collateral-free loans to micro and small enterprises, particularly targeting first-time entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Over the years, the scheme has emerged as a key pillar of the government’s efforts to promote financial inclusion and entrepreneurship, especially among women and marginalized sections.
Highlighting a broader message on personal growth and perseverance, Modi also shared a Sanskrit verse, underscoring the importance of self-awareness, initiative, patience, and a steadfast commitment to righteousness.
“One who possesses self-awareness, initiative, patience, and a constant commitment to righteousness—and who is not swayed away from their goals—is truly called a wise person,” he said.
Government officials and supporters of the scheme have often credited Mudra Yojana with enabling millions of small entrepreneurs to access formal credit, thereby reducing dependence on informal lending sources and fostering grassroots economic activity.
The Prime Minister’s remarks come as the government continues to emphasise self-reliance and entrepreneurship as key drivers of India’s growth story.
