PM Modi slams Cong-RJD alliance for derogatory remarks against his mother at Bihar rally

PM Modi slams Cong-RJD alliance for derogatory remarks against his mother at Bihar rally

New Delhi/Patna, Sept 2 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today came down heavily on the Congress-RJD alliance in Bihar, condemning the use of derogatory language against his late mother during their political rally recently in the poll-bound State.
Addressing a programme of Bihar State Jeevika Nidhi Credit Cooperative Society through video conferencing, Modi got emotional while speaking and said the abusive words used against his mother reflect the mentality of Congress and RJD. He accused them of nurturing the feeling of hatred against women.
He minced no words as he said the remarks against his mother were not merely a personal affront but an insult to every mother and sister in the country and that he was deeply hurt by the demeaning remark.
Modi further said “the Indian land never tolerates humiliation of a mother and the Congress RJD should apologize to the women of the country and especially the "Chhathi Maiya" (the famous deity of the internationally known Chhath festival of Bihar) and the "Saptabahini" (social offerings to exhibit respect to the Seven Sisters- the rivers of the Eastern region).”
'Mother is our entire world, mother is our pride. In this culturally rich land of Bihar, what happened a few days ago, I could never have imagined it. From the stage of RJD and Congress, my mother was abused. These abuses are not just an insult to my mother. They are an insult to the mothers, sisters, and daughters of this country, said the Prime Minister.
“I know...how bad all of you, every mother, sister of Bihar, felt after seeing and hearing this! I know, as much pain as I have in my heart, the people of Bihar are also in the same pain,” Modi added.
He said his mother was no more and had never been involved in politics and added that she had separated herself from him so that he could serve crores of mothers.
The Prime Minister also shared personal memories of his mother, recalling her sacrifices for the family. “She never bought new clothes for herself, saved every penny for her children and endured hardship silently. For me, she gave up everything so that I could dedicate myself to serving the nation. To abuse such a mother is an unforgivable act,” he remarked.
Modi invoked Bihar’s traditions of reverence for mothers, saying, “In Bihar, mothers are considered above God. This is the culture of the land. The insults hurled by Congress and RJD are not just political attacks; they are attacks on the dignity of every Indian mother. The princely dynasts born with silver spoons cannot understand this pain.”
He urged the people of Bihar to demand accountability from opposition leaders. “Navratri and Chhath are approaching. This land will never tolerate disrespect to mothers. Wherever RJD and Congress leaders go, people must confront them with one voice: We will not accept insults to our mothers.”
Accusing the opposition of arrogance, Modi said, “These so-called namdars (dynasts) believe they have the right to power and the right to insult those who come from poor families. They have abused me in the past, calling me a ‘gutter insect’ and a ‘poisonous snake.’ But today, they have crossed every limit by targeting my mother.”
Modi said the sacrifices of an ordinary mother and the hardships of her son cannot be understood by those “young princes born with silver and gold spoon in their mouths in royal families." The power of the country and Bihar seems like an inheritance of their family to them," he said.
The controversy traces back to August 28, when a video from the ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’ in Darbhanga went viral showing a man hurling abuses against the Prime Minister’s mother from the stage. The rally was led by Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, who later proceeded to Muzaffarpur on motorcycles.
Police have identified the accused as Mohammad Rizvi, alias Raza, a 20-year-old resident of Darbhanga. He was arrested from the Singhwara area, and a case has been registered against him and others following a complaint by BJP district president Aditya Narayan Choudhary.
