PM Modi welcomes Seychelles’ new President Herminie, vows stronger ties

New Delhi, Oct 12 (UNI) In a congratulatory message, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to Patrick Herminie, the newly elected President of Seychelles, wishing him success in his tenure. Dr Herminie secured a decisive victory in the runoff election, garnering 52.7 percent of the votes, and is set to take office as the sixth President of Seychelles.
PM Modi's message highlighted the deep-rooted ties between India and Seychelles, emphasizing the shared heritage of the Indian Ocean and the mutual aspirations of their people. "The waters of the Indian Ocean are our shared heritage and nourish the aspirations and needs of our people," PM Modi wrote on handle X, expressing confidence that bilateral relations will gain further momentum under Dr Herminie's leadership.
The Prime Minister's congratulatory message underscores India's commitment to nurturing its strategic partnership with Seychelles. With a focus on national unity, economic revival, and strengthening regional partnerships, Dr Herminie's presidency is expected to further deepen India-Seychelles relations. The two nations have historically cooperated in areas like maritime security, development projects, and capacity building.
