PM observes Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, pays tribute to those who suffered

New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today recalled the upheaval and pain endured by countless people during partition in 1947 and said it is day to honour their grit, their ability to face unimaginable loss and still find the strength to start afresh.

Remembering the day as ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’ the Prime Minister said the day is a reminder of ‘’our enduring responsibility to strengthen the bonds of harmony that hold our country together.’’

He said many of those affected went on to rebuild their lives and achieve remarkable milestones.

The ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’ was first announced by the Prime Minister in 2021. It is being observed annually on August 14 since then. The idea behind is to honour the struggles and sacrifices of those who faced unimaginable hardships during the partition in 1947.

It is meant to remind the people of the pain and displacement caused by the partition while fostering unity and compassion. Today marks another year of reflecting on that history and remembering those who endured its horrors.
