Police, Forest Department destroy 70 acres of illegal opium cultivation in Hazaribagh

Hazaribagh, Jan 21 (UNI) A joint operation was conducted by the Hazaribagh Police and the Forest Department against illegal opium cultivation in village Sikda under the Chauparan police station area.
Acting on specific intelligence received on Wednesday, the teams carried out the operation in remote and inaccessible areas along the banks of the Phalgu River near the Bihar border.
During the operation, illegal opium crops spread over approximately 70 acres were identified and destroyed on the spot. Fifteen delivery pipes used for irrigation of the illicit crop were also recovered from the site and subsequently destroyed.
