Post-poll violence: Abhishek accuses BJP of torching over 60 shops in Khejuri

Kolkata, May 10 (UNI) Fresh allegations of "post-poll violence" surfaced in West Bengal on Sunday as Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee accused BJP-backed miscreants of torching more than 60 shops at Hijli Sharif in Khejuri’s Nichkasba gram panchayat area under East Midnapore district.
Sharing a video of the alleged arson attack on his X handle, Banerjee alleged that shops belonging to both Hindus and Muslims were set ablaze, leaving several families devastated overnight.
He described the incident as a “barbaric assault” on Bengal’s social harmony and democratic fabric. “Is this how you plan to drive ‘Bhoi’ out? By setting Bengal on fire?” Banerjee wrote while targeting the BJP over the "continuing violence" in the aftermath of the May 4 Assembly election results.
