Praggnanandhaa outplays Abdusattorov in Romania

Bucharest, May 10 (UNI) India's R Praggnanandhaa scored a crucial victory over Uzbekistan’s Nodirbek Abdusattorov to move into joint lead at the Grand Chess Tour’s Superbet Chess Classic 2025.
The 19-year-old Grandmaster capitalised on an inaccurate decision by Abdusattorov — a former World Rapid champion — who gave up his dark-square bishop too early. The resulting long-term positional weakness was expertly exploited by Praggnanandhaa, who converted the advantage with clinical precision to register his second win in three rounds.
In other games, teenage Indian prodigy D Gukesh was held to a draw by Romania’s Bogdan-Daniel Deac. Both players missed slim tactical opportunities, settling for a shared point after a tense middlegame.
