Punjab Police arrest 94 drug smugglers in statewide raids

Chandigarh, Sep 14 (UNI) Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” launched by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate the drug menace from the state, Punjab Police carried out raids at 433 locations on Sunday.
The operation, conducted for the 197th consecutive day, led to the arrest of 94 drug smugglers after the registration of 71 first information reports (FIRs) across the state.
With this, the total number of drug smugglers arrested has reached 29,519 in 197 days.

Drive underway to restore natural water sources in Hamirpur

Hamirpur (HP), July 12 (UNI) A massive campaign to clean old water sources has started in all parts of the Hamirpur district and so far 236 natural water sources have been cleaned. These include 58 wells, 55 ‘khatris’ (hand-hewn caves), 112 step-wells, 3 water storage tanks, 5 ponds, and 3 hand pumps.

Haryana Police arrest third accused in Panchkula Swiss Lounge firing case

Panchkula, Jul 11 (UNI) Haryana Police has arrested a third accused in the sensational Swiss Lounge firing case in Panchkula, further tightening its crackdown on organised crime and extortion rackets operating in the region.
According to a Haryana Police spokesperson, the accused, identified as Sumit Kumar alias Lalla, was arrested by the Crime Branch, Sector 26, from Jalandhar, Punjab, on July 10.
