Punjab Police arrests 303 in statewide anti-gangster crackdown

Chandigarh, June 10 (UNI): Punjab Police on Wednesday carried out 557 raids across the state as part of its ongoing anti-gangster campaign, leading to the arrest of 303 individuals and the recovery of two weapons, officials said.
The large-scale operation was conducted under the state-wide "Gangstran Te Vaar" initiative, a special drive launched on January 20, 2026, to dismantle gangster networks and curb organised crime in Punjab. The campaign, spearheaded by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, is being executed jointly by district police units and the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF).
According to police officials, the raids were conducted at identified locations linked to associates and supporters of gangsters across multiple districts. With the latest operation, the total number of arrests made under the campaign has risen to 35,662 over the past 141 days.
