Race Intensifies for Maharashtra Women’s Commission Chairperson

Mumbai, May 7 ( UNI) The post of Chairperson of the Maharashtra State Commission for Women remains vacant following the resignation of Rupali Chakankar. With a reported rise in crimes against women across the state, the opposition has been sharp in its criticism of the government for leaving such a critical constitutional post unoccupied.
Within the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), an intense competition has surfaced among several high-profile aspirants vying for the top spot.
Pratibha Shinde, a well-known social activist with close ties to the NCP. She has reportedly held discussions with the party’s top three leaders, expressing her keen interest in leading the commission to leverage her experience in social movements.
