RSP achieves record performances across key units during April–July 2025

Bhubaneswar, Aug 4 (UNI) The Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a unit of SAIL, has reported outstanding operational performances in several of its key units during the April–July period of the 2025–26 financial year.
According to RSP sources, Blast Furnace-5 (BF-5), named ‘Durga,’ recorded its best-ever April–July performance by producing an impressive 10,37,844 tonnes of hot metal. This surpasses its previous record of 9,67,097 tonnes achieved during the same period in 2023.
Similarly, Blast Furnace-1 (BF-1), ‘Parvati,’ achieved its highest-ever April–July production with 3,61,774 tonnes, exceeding its earlier record of 3,16,199 tonnes set in 2021. Notably, BF-1 also logged its best-ever July performance by tapping 94,015 tonnes of hot metal.
In the Steel Melting Shop-II, Caster-III delivered a record April–July output of 5,25,213 tonnes of slabs, marking its best performance to date.
On the downstream side, Hot Strip Mill-2 (HSM-2) rolled its highest-ever 8,59,192 tonnes of slabs to produce 8,39,023 tonnes of hot rolled (HR) coils—surpassing the previous April–July record of 8,17,675 tonnes set in 2024.
The Sheet Shearing Line (SSL) of HSM-2 also set a new benchmark by producing 95,876 tonnes of HR plates during the four-month period.
Additionally, the New Plate Mill (NPM) achieved its best-ever April–July performance by rolling 3,30,789 tonnes of plates, exceeding the earlier record of 3,10,317 tonnes from 2021. NPM also registered its highest-ever monthly output in July, rolling 92,099 tonnes of plates.
Keeping pace, the Plate Mill recorded its best April–July output by rolling 1,78,752 tonnes of plates, marginally improving upon the previous best of 1,77,226 tonnes achieved in 2023.
