Russia's Chief Justice Lebedev dies aged 80

Moscow, Feb 24 (UNI) Chief Justice of the Russian Supreme Court, Vyacheslav Lebedev, has died at age 80, the court said on Saturday.
"It is with deep regret that we inform you that Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Lebedev, the chairman of the Russian Supreme Court, passed away on February 23, 2024... He made an invaluable contribution to the strengthening and development of the national judicial system, the establishment of the constitutional and legislative foundations of an independent judiciary, and the formation of the bodies of the judicial community," the court said in a statement.
