Savitribai Phule scheme emerges as lifeline for girls’ education in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Jan 21 (UNI) Over Rs 104.65 crore has been disbursed to 2,78,463 eligible beneficiaries this fiscal in Jharkhand under the Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana (SBPKSY), which aims to ensure continuity in education for schoolgirls by reducing financial constraints that often lead to dropouts, an official said.
A total of 6,07,467 online applications have been registered this financial year for the scheme run by the Department of Women, Child Development and Social Security. The SBPKSY provides financial assistance of up to Rs 40,000 in phased instalments to eligible school-going adolescent girls.

State to seek higher ethanol procurement quota from Centre: Jaiswal
