Second T20I: India eye unassailable 2-0 lead against Bangladesh

New Delhi, Oct 8 (UNI) India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, will look to avenge their 2019 defeat when they take on Bangladesh in the second T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium here on Wednesday.
The hosts, who suffered a seven-wicket loss the last time the two sides met at this venue, are determined to set the record straight and secure an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
In the first T20I in Gwalior, India showcased a dominant all-round performance, highlighted by captain Suryakumar Yadav's explosive 29 off 14 balls. Hardik Pandya contributed a brisk 39*, and the Indian bowlers excelled, with Varun Chakravarthy and Arshdeep Singh both taking three wickets each to dismantle the Bangladesh batting order.
Chakravarthy's variations and Arshdeep's ability to generate pace were instrumental in restricting Bangladesh to a mere 127 runs.
Bangladesh struggled to build partnerships, with their innings stalling due to the pressure exerted by the Indian bowlers. Mehidy Hasan Miraz top-scored for the visitors with an unbeaten 35, but there was little support from the rest of the batting lineup. The team fell well short of the target, unable to recover from the loss of early wickets.
Coach Gautam Gambhir is expected to field an unchanged side unless forced changes arise due to fitness concerns. Wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson, who opened the innings and impressed in Gwalior, is likely to continue in that role and will be eager to maintain his fine form.
India’s previous encounter with Bangladesh in 2019 saw them post 148/6, with Shikhar Dhawan top-scoring with 41. Bangladesh chased down the target with seven wickets and seven balls to spare, led by Mushfiqur Rahim's unbeaten 60. This remains India's only T20I loss to Bangladesh in their 15 meetings.
With the series on the line, India aims not only to avenge that defeat but also to seal the series with a game to spare.
